Trying something new - cocoa?

I was asked to join a friend on a Cocoa Ceremony - something normally well out of my range of experience. Sure I like a cup of hot chocolate but a 6 hour ceremony, now that seems quite a commitment. And just like that the two voices in my head appeared - the oh so familiar one, the skeptic and the curious. And so their dialogue began, with one making jokes about the experience (how can you drink for 6 hours, what kind of nonsense is all this, I bet we all sit round holding hands) and the other encouraging an open mind, offering a welcoming to new experiences. Rather than seeing them as in conflict I endeavoured to welcome both voices, to recognise each have a role. That the sceptic may be wishing to keep me safe and that I have choice (I may be curious but I don’t have to jump in the deep end with this). And so I said ‘yes’ and embarked on a really interesting experience where I learnt that I can do a guided mediation for an hour (something the sceptic felt was an impossibility!) , that cocoa has some really interesting attributes but also that it is nice to be with others as we continue to explore ourselves and our relationship to ourselves.
